What is rope access?

Rope access is a safe and efficient method for performing work at height or in
difficult-to-reach locations. This technique uses specialised ropes and climbing
equipment to enable IRATA trained technicians to access and complete tasks such
as inspections, maintenance, cleaning and repairs. Unlike the traditional methods of
scaffolding or aerial work platforms, rope access offers greater flexibility, reduced
setup time, and minimal impact on the surrounding environment. Adhering to
stringent IRATA safety standards, rope access ensures that technicians can carry out
their work efficiently and safely, even in the most challenging conditions.

Who are IRATA?

IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) is the leading global authority in
industrial rope access. Established in 1988, IRATA sets the standards for safe
working practices in rope access, ensuring the highest levels of safety and efficiency.
The association provides comprehensive training, certification, and continuous
professional development for rope access technicians, guaranteeing that work at
height is conducted safely and effectively. By adhering to IRATA standards,
businesses demonstrate their commitment to safety and quality in rope access
operations.
